5 Signs You’ve Found Your True Calling
Many people struggle with finding themselves, especially when they are younger. Finding your true calling can be a difficult proposition in life.
Many people end up trying several different careers or other paths before they find the one that gives them joy and happiness. It may not even be your career. Maybe your true calling is being a volunteer to help others in your free time. Maybe it is to mentor young people, or to give of your talents to some worthy charity.
Whatever it is you are seeking, you’ll realize you have found your true calling when you see the following signs.
It Is In Alignment With Your Core Values
One of the signs that you have found your true calling is when something aligns with your core values. Whatever you are doing should be an extension of your beliefs and values. If something doesn’t align with those beliefs it will cause you disharmony and doubts.
Your true calling will align with your beliefs. it will give you the feeling that by doing this you are doing your part to make the world a better place. It will give you joy and you will be at peace while doing it. it will be something that you feel compelled to do. It will feel like not doing it is not an option for you.
It Doesn’t Feel Like Work
You’ve probably heard the saying that when you do what you love you never work a day in your life. There is so much truth in that statement.
If you feel stuck in a job that you don’t feel makes any real difference you may feel like your workday is just a slow grind. You don’t really feel any sense of accomplishment. You don’t feel like you are adding value to the world. You maybe feel like what you are doing makes no difference.
When you find your true calling the feeling of work being a slow grind is replaced with a feeling of happiness. You will feel gratitude at being able to do what you are doing. It will no longer feel like work at all. It will make you feel like you are making a difference.
You Are Completely Present
When you find your true calling you are able to be completely present. You are living in the present moment. You are able to experience being in the “now” and all that entails.
How often do you find yourself watching the clock at work? You can’t wait for lunch time or the end of the workday? When you find your true calling you are able to become totally immersed in what you are doing and time just seems to fly by. You are no longer watching the minutes slowly tick by. You are glad to get up in the morning and eager to start the day.
You become absorbed in what you are doing. You wish you had time to do more. You don’t have to force work and you don’t dread the day when you are doing something you love.
You’ll Notice Less Stress
When you are doing something you aren’t happy with your stress levels increase. Your body releases stress hormones such as cortisol. High stress levels mean those hormone levels remain increased and can lead to health problems over the long run.
When you find your true calling you will notice your stress levels decreasing. This leads to the release of less of the harmful stress hormones. Doing something you love will naturally lower those hormone levels. You will find that you have more energy. You will also notice an overall improvement in your feelings of health and well-being.
Your Life Will Feel Balanced
One of the hardest things for some people to do is find balance in life. When you are constantly trying to stay one step ahead of the bills and commitments that constantly flood around you, you can start to feel lost.
When you have found your true calling you will notice a natural balance returning to your life. The lines between work and fun will become blurred. because now that you have found your true calling work IS fun. it will allow you the opportunity to find the balance of work, play, and living. The lines between them will blur and it will be hard to tell the difference. You will begin to feel joy and happiness in everything you do.
